On 21 September 2013, remedy the Center for Peace Education (CPE) will launch a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a public library, The Peace Library, in Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia. Upon completion, the new library will feature space for children and community members to meet, socialize, and learn.

CPE believes that education and the promotion of a reading culture through making available space and reading materials on topical issues to Liberians will go a long way to mitigating future conflicts. The CPE library project will provide a safe place to learn, to conduct research, read, write, and gain computer literacy, with an emphasis on peace education and conflict resolution skills, attitudes, and knowledge. Children will also be able to use the library to do their school assignments.

Construction of the Peace Library will require building materials such as cement, sand, crushed rocks, steel rods, nails, wood planks, zinc, wire, wheelbarrows, pipes, electrical, plumbing, and paint as well as tremendous physical labor.
